Ok, so I'm not actually saying "old people these days!" cos that would just be exactly what I'm complaining about in the first place and a bit hypocritical!
Most old people are lovely, really nice and fun to talk to and they have great stories and the like...but every now and again you just come across one and you think, how can they have had such a long lifetime of experiences and still be like that?!
My example, I was standing at the bus stop one day, I was the first person waiting at the stop since the last bus had come. And along came this old man and sat down on the seat at the bus stop and started talking to this lady next to him who he apparently knew. The conversation quickly turned to "young people these days, what a disgrace!" I find it kinda offensive, cos you can't just lump in everyone together and make a generalization! It went on for awhile, and the bus was very late (damn Irish bus service).
When the bus finally arrived - an hour since I had been standing there, and half an hour since the old man had been waiting - it was packed full and the bus driver opened the doors saying "Only three more people can fit".
Guess who was first on the bus? No politeness for the people who had been waiting longer than him, who had jobs to be going to and were late, the old women waiting at the stop...he hopped onto the bus and didn't take a second look back.
Now I'm the kinda person who would let people go ahead of me anyways, stand up on a bus to give an elderly person a seat...and if it had been a case of him or me I would have told him to go right ahead onto the bus.
But still, you shouldn't complain about ALL young people and then act like an asshole yourself...
*sigh*
